Neville Davies and Nicola Kelk welcome you to Ecology Cymru. We are based in the heart of South Wales providing a diverse selection of guided nature walks, wildlife talks and presentations, school educational visits and ecological surveys. All of the above are delivered throughout South Wales, Torfaen, Newport, Cardiff,Gwent, the Brecon Beacons and other areas. We are proud to offer you the following:
Guided Bird Walks and Nature Walks. We visit countless sites covering all types of habitats. Our walks are at a relaxed pace with wildlife, plants and fungi of interest pointed out and an explanation of the local history too. Our guided walks run throughout the year so please check the latest news section. Please email us if you would like a full list of what is planned for the autumn and winter.
Bird Courses. These are for all levels covering (1) bird identification skills. Improve your skills by spotting the birds, learning their calls and how to watch them without scaring them. (2) Caring for your garden birds. Looking at when and what to feed them, bird table hygiene, nest boxes, birds and the Law and bird food recipes. (3) How the Dinosaurs aparently evolved into modern day birds. (4)What makes a bird. Looking at how they fly, feathers, beaks, feet and eggs and learning about sight, sound, calls and much more. Numerous bird artfacts are brought along to see and hold.
Wildlife Talks. These are power point presentations for any groups or clubs looking at my travels as a natural history expert here and abroad, birding on Mallorca, plants and fungi, gardening for wildlife and other topics.
School Visits. Here we show you the diverse range of wildlife to be found on your doorstep and its role in the environment. It involves indoor and outdoor activities and a large selection of natural history objects are brought along for the pupils to see and hold. (CRB certificate available for your school records).
Roman Tours. Enjoy a guided tour of Caerleon taking in the museum, the barracks and amphitheatre. You can also join us to visit Caerwent, the burial mound at Caerphilly Castle and several local Roman roads. Learn how the Romans lived, what they brought us and what they left us.
Ecological Surveys. All surveys come with a full report, covering birds (breeding, wintering, baseline surveys, nest box monitoring, estuary counts and static surveys to monitor wind farm proposal sites), Badgers, Butterflies, Phase 1 habitat assessments, Plants, Fungi and Hedgerows. We also cater for site visits to check vegetation for birds and wildlife and to advise prior to clearence work.
